Opening Ceremony of 6th NoGAPS 2010 @ AIMST University

The theme for 'Pharmacy.. leading the wave of change' reflects the growing responsibilities of a pharmacist in the healthcare system and towards the society. The industry has evolved rapidly, bringing new changes to the health profession. This event gives the opportunity to the fellow participants to enhance their social skills and expand their horizons. Furthermore, the participants will gain new experience and friendships through the challenges that they may face during the entire event.  (Quoted by Ms Joanna's speech)

Taking pictures while waiting the arrival of GOH. Each of us was given a thick programme book with coloured cover. I highlighted this as it costs a lot to make such a programme book. Good job to the organisers!

We were required to wear formal wear for this official opening ceremony of 6th NoGAPS 2010. NoGAPS is the abbreviation of National Gathering of Pharmacy Students organised annually by different pharmacy schools under supervision of MyPSA (Malaysia Pharmacy Student Association). The title NoGAPS is not a mere acronym but it also meant to reduce the gaps amongst pharmacy students through gathering, allowing them to share their views and interact.

The arrival of guest of honours. I only knew two of them.

  2. Dr. S. S. Dhanaraj, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, AIMST University who is famous for his quote 'my dear, dear, dear students'.
Quote: Pharmacy.. Leading the wave of change reflect the step forward the pharmacy profession have taken. The pharmacy sector is turning a new leaf, being more involved with patients and other health professions.

  3. Assoc. Prof. Syed Azhar Syed Sulaiman, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (GOH)

  4. Professor Frederick Charles Smales, Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor, AIMST University. Quote: Pharmacy .. Leading the wave of change not only portrays a message of entrepreneurship, it also celebrates the spirit and aspiration in creating bright future pharmacists.

Simple yet elegant official opening ceremony, cutting of a scroll's ribbon before opening of the scroll hanged by few balloons. It was officiated by Prof. Frederick Charles Smales.

The participants were then entertained by the performances from the organisers namely the group leaders. There were 10 groups altogether.

Wanna see their performances? Alright, ready with your popcorn ('',)

Hello Hello, thank you all for your fascinating performances!!!

The male solo singer was Jason who gave my friends a ride to and from the University whereas the female solo singer was Jaycynta aka 'J" who shocked me with her powerful vocal.
