Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary @ Sandakan

Aloha! Have you ever been told that the monkeys in Sabah are totally different from the Peninsular. Before I came to Sandakan, my friend Wan Ying keep telling me that I should visit the monkey as I would have never seen such species before. 

On one fine day, I got the chance to pay a visit to the famous tourist spot, the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary located far away from Sandakan town. Actually, not really far la, about 45 minutes but the journey was a bit 'hurting' to your car as it need to travel pass about 4 km untarred, 'rocky' and uneven road inside a palm oil plantation.

Tired of working? Stress with your works? Wanna break free for a moment? Let's go for a drink to ease tension and unchained yourself. This around we went to the Tiara Bistro & Fun Pub located at Sandakan town. 

For the first round, we ordered bottles of Heineken @ RM 42.00 for 4 bottles. So, we ordered two sets with the amount of RM 84.00. Price exclusive of 10% service charge, RM 8.40 and 5% government tax, RM 4.20 which gave the grand amount of RM 96.60.

Hey yea, all my dearest readers and friends!!! I knew this event had taken place long time ago .. about 1 year but the memory still kept vividly in my brain. Sorry for not posting this earlier as I am finding my time to write too due to the never ending events. xD. 

Alright, here are the snapshots of the pictures at Broga Hill. I simply select some interesting pictures but it's already sum up to 20. Seriously, I can't stop myself from laughing when seeing these photos. We were just too naive and FUNNY. Haha.

Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple @ Sandakan

Puu Jih Shih Temple is one of the famous temple in Sandakan. Tribute to its location at the hilltop of Tanah Merah, many come here to have breathtaking panoramic view of Sandakan town and the harbour apart from religious duties.

As seen, this temple was officiated on 26th September 1987 by YAB Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan who was the Chief Minister at that time. (YB now Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima was the founder and President of Parti Bersatu Sabah)

Agnes Keith House @ Sandakan

This is about a place I visited, the Agnes Keith House. I think one should read this before paying visit to this place to have a better understanding of who Agnes is and the storyline. Below are my summaries that I had compiled.

The author: Agnes Keith.

Agnes Jones Goodwillie Newton Keith ( 4 July 1901 – 30 March 1982) was an American author who wrote about her life experiences. During her stay in North Borneo (now Sabah), she wrote three books The Land Below Wind, Three Came Home and White Man Returns. The first and third book was written in her house better known as the Newlands (now Agnes Keith House). The second book was written during her imprisonment as prisoner of wars (POW) under Japanese occupation in several locations. The Three Came Home book threw her into fame and it was later made into a film in 1950.

The husband: Henry George Keith.

Agnes married to Henry George Keith (known as Harry) in 1943. Harry, an Englishmen had been a friend of Agnes brother, Al. Agnes first met her husband when she was eight years old in California. Since then, they had not meet each other for about 10 years after Harry gone to work for the Government of North Borneo. Harry was the Conservator of Forests and Director of Agriculture under the Chartered Company and was also Honorary Curator of the Sandakan (State) Museum. He had been working in Borneo since 1925 and was based in Sandakan.

While Harry was on leave in 1934, he re-met Agnes and married her just 3 days later. Both of them went back to Borneo three months after their marriage.

St. Michael's and All Angels Church @ Sandakan

Our next destination is the St. Michael's and All Angels Church located near the Sandakan town. It is one of the oldest building in Sandakan dated more than 100 years and had survived from WW II in 1940. In fact, it's first construction began in 1893 and took almost 30 years to complete. The designer was Mr B. W. Mountfort. 

The church was recognised as one of the world's heritage since 2005. One word when you arrive at this church is beautiful. You won't be seeing any other alike structure in Sandakan. This stone building was in fact underwent revolution from timber, brick and finally stone upon completion.

Alam Damai Recreational Park @ Cheras

If you are staying in Cheras, there are two parks for you either at the Bandar Tasik Permaisuri or at the Alam Damai. Alam Damai is suitable for those who wish to jog for short circuit or prefer to do short distance walking.

Thean Hou Temple @ 天后宫

The Thean Hou Temple was built by the Hainanese community dedicated to the Goddess Thean Hou (The Heavenly Mother).  It is one of the largest Chinese temple in South East Asia and officially opened on 3 September 1989. The Thean Hou Temple is managed by the Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association (Persatuan Hainan Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan).

1. Goddess of Mercy or Guan Yin (installed on 19 October 1986)
2. Goddess of Water Front or Goddess of Shui Wei Sheng Niang
   

Vegetable farm @ Kampung Bukit Tinggi, Pahang

Hey peeps!Today, I want to bring you guys venture into my kampung or hometown located at Kampung Bukit Tinggi.Yea.. you got it right! It is the village located nearest to the Genting Highlands as well as the famous Colmar Tropicale (aka French Village) and Japanese Village situated at Bukit Tinggi. You guys know who is Dato Seri Liong Tiong Lai, the Minister of Health? He is the MP from Bentong at which Bukit Tinggi is located within.

By the way, this post is about real vegetable farm and not the Farm  Ville in the FB! As I always tell my sis, do something realistic rather than planting fake vegetables daily. =P

My auntie supplied these green vegetables to the market at Bentong town as well as those food restaurants at Gohtong Jaya.

Now let's learn about Chinese vegetables.

 

Any idea what this vegetables is called? Argg Chinese vegetables are hard to be identified.

Wonder why these vegetables got holes?

  

Tadaa.. the culprit! One of the major problem in the crops is the attack of the insects. Being attacked is normal, is it the matter of how much pesticide one should put to balance out the benefit over risk. If you see any vegetables completely perfect, that may indicate high level of pesticide used. However, too much attacks by pests will destroy the crops.

After years of visiting, this is my first time taking pictures here. Bloggers crazy behaviours?

  

Crazy? :Lets see what I did under the super hot sun! Get scolded by my sis from doing this.

The plucked vegetables which then undergone cleaning, weighing and wrapping before they are sent to the respective destinations on the same day it is plucked to preserve the freshness of the vegetables.
