The staff from Pharmacy Department whom participated in HDOK Walkathon 2011
It's been a year since I first came to Sandakan and worked here in Hospital Duchess of Kent (HDOK). I was glad to be able to participate in this event which was conducted on 17 December 2011. It brought me with the memory during secondary school where we used to participate in Merentas Desa or Larian Amal events.
4 good buddies (Me, Daniel Ung, James Voo & Hoo Gee Pang)
The WORLD AIDS DAY Charity Dinner was held at Sabah Hotel on the eve of official launching of World AIDS Day 2011 at Yu Yuan Secondary School. Sandakan is proud to be the host state for this year national level celebration organised by Ministry of Health.
Event started by the welcoming speech by the President of Sandakan AIDS Support Group Association (SAGA), Dr. Zaitun Yahya which also the Director of Klinik Kesihatan Sandakan or commonly known as Jabatan Pesakit Luar (JPL) Sandakan.
McDonald's Sandakan finally opened its door bringing the only second town in Sabah other than Kota Kinabalu to have an outlet. For many especially the locals, it have been a long wait. As for me, I been monitoring the progress of the McDonald's construction every single day when I passed by the site. It's good to see how an empty land had turned to a brand new favourite fast food restaurant.
I have been always a fans of the McDonalds's Breakfast and McDonald's lunch. The food here in Sabah is not cheap and above the normal price. Hence, the menu here is comparable of those other local foods thus bringing a new choice for the consumers.
Poring is a small town 19km east of Ranau and 39km east of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah. As the title above, it is famous for its natural hot springs. The entrance fee or more likely the conservative fee is RM 3 for MyKad holders.
Happy fasting month to all our dear Muslim friends! Hari Raya will be coming towards the end of the month while we will be spoil for choices of food during the one month long Pasar Ramadhan.
This Pasar Ramadhan is located at the Bulatan Taman Fajar. It is not a big scale one and touring around for 15 minutes can walk past all the stalls here. Well, couldn't expect much as their usual night market located at Kim Fung is also a short and small scale.
Time flied and here came another birthday celebration. It also signified almost 1 year my presence in the land of Sandakan. I'm not sure where will be my next destiny, hoping everything will be taken good care by the mighty God.
It's always good to hang out with group of friends and I'm glad I get to know a lot of buddies here. They make my life happier, happening and complete. Thanks all.
Yo, folks! I'm back with a post on my recent visit to Taman Buaya Sandakan aka Sandakan Crocodile Farm. Been in Sandakan for almost a year, but I'm yet to visit this place which is among place of interests in Sandakan.
Well, the main thing here is the Crocodile Show which is performed twice daily, one at 12 pm and another one if not mistaken at 3-4 pm. Sorry for my bad memory. So, do come at correct time otherwise you wouldn't want to waste your money. The first step before the show started was to moist the surface of the floor with water.
Oops, long time didn't update my blog. Well, there are many stories, foods, places of interest that I wanted to share. However, time is really a limiting factor. I wish I could have more time but in reality, I should focus more on my working commitment.
In this post, I would like to share on blackouts that happen so frequent that it has become a norm to the Sandakan people. I not sure about the whole Sabah, but definitely, in Sandakan, probability of blackout is proproniate to the extend of the downpour. When this happens, there is no traffic police to control the traffic as in like KL but the motorists just simply cut in and there. That's normal I supposed but in long run, it wouldn't be good as this may bring untoward incidents.
I understand that the electricity supply may not be as functional as in the West but at least there should be a traffic police stationed at busy road should such event occurs. Just my few cents~
Located at Mile 9, another spot for dining with the special UFO and beef noodles.
Beef noodles @ RM 5.50. Though it's claimed among the best, I still think it vary very much compared to KL. Eg. taste, the organ parts and the a bit dilute soup.
Aloha readers!!! Finally, the much awaited fifth Nuffnang cheque has arrived! The amount stated is not per month earning of course.. but in fact was for the whole year of 2010.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my readers and friends who showed continuous support towards my blog. I will continue to write basically about everything I encountered in my daily life. However, the momentum for this year or perhaps upcoming years would not be the same as last year. As I had entered into the working world, there are more commitments that I need to prioritize.
Thanks all once again! Continue to visit my blog..well basically everyday just like your need to eat rice daily! xD
Are you a PORK lover? If yes, then you should give a try to this 'premium' pork by Sanbanto located at SS2. When we say about premium, we gotta to pay premium price as well. Let's check it out.
Wei Jie with a big menu placed at the entrance. Jom masuk and see.
Cravings for Penang food? Where else other than the Gurney Drive Food Court aka the food paradise of which you can find all the cheap and tasty signature foods of Penangites.
We took no delay to start order the food from various stalls in this food court. You can sit at any tables and make orders from any stall. During the peak hours, it is somehow difficult to get a seat and the staff might not be able to deliver your ordered food in time due to the crowd and too many customers.
Introducing the famous tang yen aka tong yuen aka glutinous rice ball located at the busy Penang Road. Look out for this Bank Rakyat signboard and you will eventually find this stall which is opened during night time from 7 to 11 pm.
This stall is famous for its non sweet and aromatic tang yen which is claimed to be the same as the good old days. Well, I can't evaluate this as I wasn't born yet that time. xD
Big glutinous rice ball with ginger soup. Price starts from RM 2.00 (small), RM 3.00, RM 4.00/ RM 5.00 (large).
Besides the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, you 'probably' should have come to this Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation, both of which are the tourists spot in Sandakan city. Read on as you listen to my grumble.
Orang Utans are also known as Pongo Pygmaeus (scientific name) of which have been found to have 96.4% similarity to our human genes. The orang utans found here are also known as the 'Wild Man of Borneo'.
Aloha! Have you ever been told that the monkeys in Sabah are totally different from the Peninsular. Before I came to Sandakan, my friend Wan Ying keep telling me that I should visit the monkey as I would have never seen such species before.
On one fine day, I got the chance to pay a visit to the famous tourist spot, the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary located far away from Sandakan town. Actually, not really far la, about 45 minutes but the journey was a bit 'hurting' to your car as it need to travel pass about 4 km untarred, 'rocky' and uneven road inside a palm oil plantation.
Seafood is synonym with the Sandakan town as one can find cheap and fresh seafood compared to the West. Hence, I would like to introduce a favourite spot for eating seafood, Pasir Putih Biru Seafood Restaurant which is located far end of Sandakan town.
Talking about freshness, the raw seafood are obtained from the daily catches by the Filipinos (I supposed). Hence, you get to choose yours pick.
Welcome back! Today, my profesional model, Hooi Hoon would like to introduce to you people, the Queensbay Mall. However, we are not going to focus at the shopping mall but instead the panaromic view outside the mall.
At seen at the background, this is one of the nice spot to capture the Penang Bridge.
Konnichiwa!! Watashi Kwong Fei san.. Are you guys craving for ice cream? Ever since I tasted my first Hokkaido ice cream 3 years back prior to this visit, I always wanted to grab one cone of the ice cream should I visited Penang. And now, the desire will be realised..
Wanna know which ice cream that left significant memory to me? Roll on..
Tired of working? Stress with your works? Wanna break free for a moment? Let's go for a drink to ease tension and unchained yourself. This around we went to the Tiara Bistro & Fun Pub located at Sandakan town.
For the first round, we ordered bottles of Heineken @ RM 42.00 for 4 bottles. So, we ordered two sets with the amount of RM 84.00. Price exclusive of 10% service charge, RM 8.40 and 5% government tax, RM 4.20 which gave the grand amount of RM 96.60.
Hey yea, all my dearest readers and friends!!! I knew this event had taken place long time ago .. about 1 year but the memory still kept vividly in my brain. Sorry for not posting this earlier as I am finding my time to write too due to the never ending events. xD.
Alright, here are the snapshots of the pictures at Broga Hill. I simply select some interesting pictures but it's already sum up to 20. Seriously, I can't stop myself from laughing when seeing these photos. We were just too naive and FUNNY. Haha.
Seventh Heaven is a cafe located at Bandar Indah, Mile 4 which is situated at the same street of shoplot with others such as Bank Islam, Restoran Manis Sedunia, De Palm Restaurant etc. It is very well known place for its smoothies, ice cream and cakes aka DESSERTS~~
Let's look into their menus and start searching one to stimulate the sweet receptor of your tongue!
Puu Jih Shih Temple is one of the famous temple in Sandakan. Tribute to its location at the hilltop of Tanah Merah, many come here to have breathtaking panoramic view of Sandakan town and the harbour apart from religious duties.
As seen, this temple was officiated on 26th September 1987 by YAB Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan who was the Chief Minister at that time. (YB now Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima was the founder and President of Parti Bersatu Sabah)
Located in vicinity of the famous Agnes Keith House, this English Tea House & Restaurant is a perfect place to drop by for a cup of tea or a slice of cake. It is surrounded by lush greenery gardens with the perfect view of Sandakan harbours. Since it's located at hillside facing the seas, one can feel the cool breeze while dining in here.
