Datuk Ahmad Ismail
Post: Bukit Bendera UMNO division chief
Finally, the issue has come to an end. However, I would say it is yet to resolve. Let’s begin with how the chaos started.
Early stage.
At Permatang Pauh by election where DSAI won with higher majority, this s2pid fella had caused anger to the Chinese people by saying:
‘Chinese people in the country were immigrants and squatters and did not deserve equal rights’
Who is him to say the Chinese are immigrants? Did he know what Constitution of Malaysia is and under which act that state so? Did he learn history? Which history books tell him so? For Chinese, of coz it caused anger to them and me as well. Our forefather has come to Tanah Malayu long enough, just that the current ‘Malays race’ has come much earlier a bit. But, the fact is still the same. The origin of Malaysia is the aborigines and not the Malays. Malays are like in Australia. To say who originate from the land, it is definitely not any of us than aborigines. To say who resided in Tanah Melayu earlier, the answer is definitely the Malays.
In achieving the Independence, it is not only Tunku Abdul Rahman who fights for it. Do you still rmb the requirements given by the British government? The main criteria are the people must be united and all races must accept the formation of Malaysia as a multiracial country and not Malays as the sole ruler and King of Malaysia. Do you rmb the trip to London? Tunku is accompanied by Tun Tan Cheng Lock and Tun V.T. Sambanthan. It is not him or umno ALONE. British gave independence to Tanah Melayu on the ground that a new party is formed namely Barisan Nasional which comprises component parties from different races and represent the majority of the people.
Are we (Chinese) squatters? Do squatter fight for independence? Do squatter pay taxes? Do squatter contribute to the nation building?
- Please compare to the Indonesian squatter in the county..LOL
Now, who made the criticism on his remarks?
First and foremost, is the Chinese newspaper who made the headlines. Then, if not mistaken is the DAP who made police reports. Next, a BN component which usually kept quiet (virtually all), Gerakan (in process of reforming party), strike Ahmad back with his remarks. Wait… those who voiced out is not the Gerakan top committee; they are just MP or head of branches. You know la.. they dare not to disturb the affairs of big bro. When situation becoming worsen after Ahmad refuses to apologise, Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, for the first time, openly slammed back to Ahmad and UMNO as a whole.
He said that such attitude (arrogant) by UMNO leaders had made the fall down or political tsunami in the recent March General Election. He added that Gerakan may be opting out from Barisan as he felt the party has no longer relevance to the people. They wanted to be a muliracial party and it seemed PR will be the ideal choice but denying that they will pull out from Barisan.
What is it got to do with Gerakan acting president and Penang state Barisan chairman Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon?
As mentioned, Gerakan said they may pull out based on the recent racist remarks by UMNO leader and the current political scenarios. So, what this Ahmad said?
“He is a leader who is really good at tai chi but I would also like to remind everyone not to forget that the Malays are equally good at silat,” “I want Koh and Gerakan to be responsible in case any untoward incidence takes place in our country.
Besides that, Ahmad also said that Dr Koh should apologise not only to the Malays and Muslims but also to the Chinese in the country for creating so much tension. He also said Gerakan should leave the Barisan Nasional ruling coalition because it has only created chaos among the component parties. In addition, this ‘muka tak tahu malu’ said Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon should also be stripped of his post as the state Barisan chairman and the post should be given to the MCA.
In that press conference, Ahmad’s supporters tore up a poster of him. In response to such humiliation, Penang Gerakan announces to cut the ties with Penang Umno.
Well, this Ahmad Said act assuming he is the Chief of Barisan Nasional, He is so daring without thinking the consequences of his own words! UMNO leaders are really the Big Bro! They can openly scold you and asked you to leave the BN caused to their belief BN is owned by UMNO and other parties it’s just the subsidiaries. For Tan Sri Dr Koh, he really had changed a lot. If compared to last time, he won’t say anything. The usual word is ‘ kita serahkan kepada pucuk pimpinan BN untuk tentukan’. But, now in response to his own members, he finally voiced out (not immediate action). But, this is far better than MCA. MCA has remained silence. They didn’t say anything only after Gerakan has made their statement. Now that Gerakan has cut the ties with UMNO. MCA follow after that.
So, what Pak Lah said?
Initial, Pak Lah had said ‘’Well, Ahmad did not mean it and I will talk to him’’. This is UMNO approach when their leaders make insult to other races. (Note: only applicable to UMNO). So, he tried to call him up but couldn’t reach. On findings, Ahmad had led a team of speak takraw (if nt mistaken) to Thailand. He claimed that he has a lot of ‘anak buah’ that called him. So, even PM also can’t contact him. What a lousy excuse? Don’t tell me you are 24 hours in the phone and your phone can’t check the missed calls!
Then, DPM, Dato Seri Najib had made an official apology to the public representing the UMNO. Ahmad is a real freak! Even though DPM had make an apology indicating the incidence do occurs, he refuses to admit that he is wrong. Then, he started to divert the attention to the newspapers reporters claiming they had made false statements and they trying to politicize the issue. What a shame that UMNO has such leaders…Besides, it is also shameful to know that the remarks are made in front of DPM. So, this DPM corrected him be4 the press made the headlines?
After the supreme council meeting:
Pak lah said: “Many Umno supreme council members gave their views and we are of the opinion that Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s comments and action have caused worry and anger among Barisan Nasional which is serious thing and so we have made this decision. The judgement is in accordance with Section 20(9) of the UMNO constitution.’’
Besides that, he also urged other Barisan component parties to act sternly and take disciplinary action against their members if they commit similar offences.
“All components parties must be firm. If any of their members make comments which whip up racial sentiment and cause anger among the races and jeopardise ties among the parties, they must take disciplinary action,”
Ahmad punishment:
UMNO has suspended Ahmad membership rights and stripped him of his posts for three years. This means that he is unable to contest and vote in the party elections or attend UMNO annual assembly.
What other BN components said?
‘’Umno had recognised the coalition’s feelings’’. Yes, indeed! Finally, they have taken the small bro opinion in making their judgements.
What Ahmad Ismail response?
He accepted the 3 years suspension and give assurance to make a comeback. He asked the Malays and UMNO members to calm down. He also refused to apologise and retract his statements
‘‘ It was a lesson for the Malays to be united. The decision is “God’s will. In politics there are leaders and fighters. As a fighter, there are sacrifices and risks. If you are afraid of the ocean waves, don’t build your house on the beach. Being struck by waves is normal but this time it was a tsunami (that hit me). But I have a long time, three years, to build a stronger house. I will build it on the same site. I will stay on with Umno, my party,”
Now, what shall we label him as?? ($%^&*). At this point of time, he wanted to become the saver and the fighter for the Malays! (Agenda baru UMNO as said by PR). He still think he had made no mistakes which mean the Chinese are squatters!! In response to this, don’t you think UMNO shall terminate his membership for lifetime? Judgement has passed to him and he still insists of his own s2pid views. Now, problem has come. His act has caused a stir in relationship btw the Malays and the Chinese in Penang. His supporters including the 13 branches of UMNO vowed their support to him. This means that in the 3 years time to come, the hatred will be at its top level! I can’t imagine what will happen in the coming days as sentiment btw races has reached to the highest level in which whoever who try or purposely cause a small spark, a big fire will form!
