Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple @ Sandakan

Puu Jih Shih Temple is one of the famous temple in Sandakan. Tribute to its location at the hilltop of Tanah Merah, many come here to have breathtaking panoramic view of Sandakan town and the harbour apart from religious duties.

As seen, this temple was officiated on 26th September 1987 by YAB Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan who was the Chief Minister at that time. (YB now Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima was the founder and President of Parti Bersatu Sabah)

The main entrance of the temple.

You are required to take only one joss stick.

Then, make a wish and pray according to your religion style.

Let's guess her wish. Wishing to posted back to Peninsular? Hehe.

Inside the temple.

Quoted from source, this temple was built in 1987 which cost around US$ 2 millions. (That's huge sum of money at that era). The temple is in blaze of red and gold with writhing dragons, gilded Buddhas and hundreds of gleaming lamps.

There is stairways leading to another temple located at the base of the hill.

One minute break to take a photo. The said temple was the background in this picture.

Ti Tsang Pusa Temple, that's the name, also officiated by CM Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
