Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek is the new MCA President!!

Breaking news! Finally, the delegates made the right choice to select the right No.1 party man to head the party. Dr. Chua had garnered 901 votes while Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting had 833 votes and finally Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat had 578 votes.

A brief flashback of the past.
  1. OKT who had made a comeback by claiming to save and reunite the party was indeed seen as planned earlier. Why in the world he want to save his once led party NOW and NOT when the crisis of leadership of OTK started? As many said, he who was once said that he did not want to interfere the party affairs after resignation, shall instead mediate or become the middleman between OTK and CSL. His move to contest for the President post has no benefits in term of long run. I wouldn’t blame him for the previous GE results, overall it is not the party problem but more to BN leadership crisis. Yea, that sleeping man has gone.
  2. Next, is OTK. I salute him for his strong efforts to eradicate corruption especially involving the MCA leaders. What he had done must be respected by all but not when come to leadership. When you are a President of a party, you have your party men as well. You need to work well with them and ensure good relationship within the top management. OTK was seemed to be a sole ranger who made decisions before consulting to his members namely his Deputy and his CC members. I know you may feel great to handle all this issues alone but they are also part of the party who need to be respected because they are elected members into working committee. His effort to sideline CSL previously has created a great rejection from the party members as CSL is an elected Deputy and shall be given the appropriate tasks and not be left alone with no clear job descriptions. Your failure today must be credited to your own fault for being selfish, ignorant to the people views and do not delegate tasks appropriately to your members.

Dr. Chua Soi Lek past

Dr. Chua Soi Lek was indeed the right choice! He has good track records in serving the party and the people. I knew he had made a mistake previously. However, he admitted his mistakes and apologized to the people, at least he had the dignity and courage to admit. He resigned and then made a comeback. The MCA delegates chose him back and forgive his mistakes.

So, what is the problem with everyone talking about his past? In few days before the election today, there are a group of women self called the No Adulterer President movement making a protest by dressing in black, donned in green hats made of hard paper and wore face masks with the words “No Adulterous President”.

Shame on you these women. WHO IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TO PUNISH DR CHUA WHEN HIS WIFE HAD FORGIVEN HIM? I am pretty sure they are somebody behind their move. Otherwise, where in the world they have such an ample time to buy mask and made the hat to do such protest. Totally irrelevant and why in the world you people making the protest now when the election draws near and not any other time. So, did you girls receive any financial compensation? Answer yourself. No one is perfect and everyone has their hidden past. Now, answer me:

  1.  Have you ever bribe a policeman or the government authorities?
  2. Have you ever dump your rubbish everywhere be it on the road, at the roadside, throw into a lake , river and etc?
  3. Have you ever take advantages of your friends weakness or stab back your friends?
  4. Have you ever done something illegal by law?
If your answer is yes, then you are not in a good position to judge CSL. This is all his private life and he has no intention to tell others. So, are those who set up cameras at different angle, distributing the DVD and made allegation to CSL is very good moral people?

Dr. Chua Soi Lek now and the future.

I believe he can handle all the various fractions in the party well. Datuk Seri Liong Tiong Lai, the new Deputy President secure his post winning a slight margin with 1171 votes vs Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha with 1106 votes. I would say the delegates made a good choice too. With CSL and LTL teaming up the top post, I am sure the two fractions from these two people can unite and subsequently unite the low fractions of OTK and OKT. On top of that, LTL doesn’t seem to have problem working with CSL so long that CSL can lead well and do not make solo decisions without consulting his members.

CSL is a man of no nonsense. He made solid decision and will not simply promise anyone to seek popularity. He was also the one who travel from state to state after the GE losses to get feedback from the grassroots members and understand to their predicaments. Hence, he know well about the party problems and with the power entrusted to him as a President, I believe he can made his plan and solutions more effectively.

With the upcoming by-election in Hulu Selangor, I see the possibility of BN winning back to the seat since the PKR incumbent won with a thin majority. There are uncertainty with the PKR now as well as DSAI, so with PAS. I believe with the full force of MCA , MIC and UMNO, the seat can be reclaimed back only if UMNO do not make noise of fielding an UMNO candidate.

With the new leadership, I believe all the previous problems have now settled. Lets forget the past, close ranks and move forward to have a better MCA for the betterment of the Chinese society.

Congrats to Dr. Chua Soi Lek!!!

  2. I disagree

MCA is already in a bad shape. It has lost relevance and the past/ current / and newly elected leaders has not listen.

CSL has put the PM in a difficult position. Being president of MCA should give automatic cabinet position. As much as we don't like it we are still a conservative nation. His 'past' will of course bring rise to the question if he is suited to be a cabinet minister.

If the PM does not or if CSL elects not to be a cabinet minster (He will prob say to concentrate on uniting the party) this will again weaken MCA as the president is not a cabinet minister.

Selfish man! But i guess what more can we expect from MCA. I Hope MCA is wipe out completely at the next election. This will solve the infighting!

  3. out of the 3, i think he fits the president post. =)

like what you said, no1 is perfect and with his experience & wisdom, i hope d crisis will be solved very soon.

am still doubting whether the PM will give him a minister post in the cabinet...

  4. I think you're missing the point on CSL re his scandal. We're talking here as leader and role model. A tainted leader will always carry this handicap which the oppostion can use in the next GE. If the younger generation were do to a profile in MCA presidents as a project - CSL will stand out as one who has sex scandal. You can do a google on CSL today and the picture of him standing in the room will pop-up. So, are we telling the next generations that wayward lifestyle is fine? Agreed that no one is perfect but a leader with this baggage to carry is something else. Anyway, party's election is done. Now it's time to move on - but MCA will not be my party of choice in the next GE. Maybe it's just my one vote and will not material, but this is something I'll explain to my children so that they can also understand what's right and wrong and what is expected from a leader.

  5. @ken: yup..congratulation to him

@anonymous: well, it is something private and fmaily affair of Dr. Chua. I would not like to comment further. Let the time pass and let see what will happen next.

@Anonymous: As for me, MCA is still relevant form the day it is established till now. But the extent of relevancy can be questioned especially after GE.. and also when DAP dare to speak out things that MCA will never ever dare to condemn even though even though the boss UMNO is dominating perhaps EVERYTHING.

@JayLeo: definitely PM will offer him a post.. whether he will accept or not will be a ques.. i myself predict he will not as he would wan to focus more on the party issue and would like to gain ministerial powt directly and not under senatorship

@Horlic: may he can unite back the party and well accpeted by all malaysian .. throwing behind the dark past.

  6. @Anonymous:
I truly understand to your concern. When CSL first made a comeback, I was thinking many will reject him due to his past. But, the results of the EGM showed differently. the delegates supported him.

OTK is not happy with that. He sidelined him in the MCA despite he is an elected Deputy. This causes a stir in the MCA which happen till yesterday night. OTK is not of a better person. The way he handle PKFZ and the party is weakening the MCA.

MCA had suffered enough i Hope till yesterday. What I as a public would like to see if MCA stop the internal fighting and move forward and continue to serve the Chinese community.

CSL as the new President is a fact which cannot be changed now. So, next question? Are we still thinking about his past again? If we do so, then MCA will fall into another crisis.

BUT if you and me as well as others, forgive but not forgot him, he may run the party smoothly and bring it to another level.

Yea.. his past will be a baggage for him. Elizabeth Wong managed to go through despite she is a weak girl. Why not CSL?

From the way you comment, you might be a parent. If ever a young children ask me about CSL and his past, I would say :

'The past is the past, what is more important is to look for the future. Also, this story tell you the importance of being honest to yourself, your family, your friends and the whole world.

If you make a mistake, be dare to tell the truth and then make a correction if you can do so. Do not be coward and do not hide. BE A MAN.

If you can do so, you will be successful as CSL too. He crawled from a deep hole out to escape and now he is a better man, responsible to his family as well as to the country.

Learn from his mistake and do not follow his past. Learn how he was being successful for not giving up and manage to lead himself to a greater future.'

  9. When we oust a leader, who would fight corruption regardless of objections from his own political members, what lesson can we teach our next generation?

When we oust a leader, who has done nothing wrong and unearthed the PKFZ scandal, only to appoint someone else with a tainted past, can we still be proud of ourselves?

While it is fair to give a 2nd chance to ex-felons, what rational is it to chose them over an individual of greater caliber?

And are we implying to our teenagers, it is fine to commit crimes because it would not impair your future? What is the implication on crime prevention efforts among the youth?

  10. @Kimizo: Hmm ... based on current MCA situation, there isn't any much choices..

@Moral obligation: Needless to say, from the comments here, it seem there is still strong rejection of Dr. Chua especially among the females. The things the readers mentioned are truth and expressed their own view.

With that, I believe Dr. Chua who has to work harder in order to put away the negative perception. I truly hope he will be able to do so.

On the more caliber leader, I don;t think OTK is of a better person. He may be great in stand strong to his idealism and good effort to prevent corruption, but the main issue about him is HE NEGLECTED HIS PARTY and he treated as if the party solely run by him.

  11. I've got nothing to say but congrates to Dr. Chua. Somehow, I wanted him to win.. At least it sent a strong message that private life shouldn't be mixed up with politics.. So what if he did what he did.. it doesn't make him a bad leader..
