1 Malaysia: Kamalanathan @ P94 Hulu Selangor

Quoted from YB Lim Kit Siang (Source: here),

Muhyiddin is insulting the intelligence of the 65,000 voters of Hulu Selangor with such “garbage”.

Would Kamalanathan respond and answer in a crowd if someone shouts “Kamal” or “Alan”? Clearly not.

If Kamalanathan’s name comprises of “Kamal”, “Alan” and “Nathan” then he has a longer name and should be called “Kamalalannathan”! The BN candidate for Hulu Selangor will stare at you for being hostile and unfriendly if you call him that!

Does Muhyiddin Yassin’s name qualify to be a “1Malaysia” name? Where are the Chinese and Indian components? What about Kadazan and Iban components?

Yea.. you heard it right. 1 Malaysia in the name of the BN so called compromised candidate, Kamalanathan. You may be wondering what it got to do with 1 Malaysia with the name?

When I first heard about it, I was in totally shocked. How can DPM, Tan Sri Muhyiddin uttered such words? If he called upon the voters of Hulu Selangor to vote for Mr. Kamalanathan just because of his so called 1 Malaysia name, then shall we proposed that the voters of Pagoh to oust him out in the coming election because we can’t find any 1 Malaysia in his full name, Tan Sri Dato' Haji Muhyiddin bin Mohd. Yassin. You spotted any?

YB Muhyiddin is seemed to be a baggage for Dato Seri Najib’s administration by his incompetency and ‘nothing so great’ achievements especially in delivering the 1 Malaysia concept. Let’s look to the past on the chronology of ‘food in mouth’ disease as claimed by YB Lim,

  1. He caused a stir by claiming he is a Malay first followed by Malaysian. Well, it is nothing wrong to called yourself a Malay first but it is absolutely wrong if you wish to deliver the 1 Malaysia concept but labeling yourself based on your religion instead of ‘Bangsa Malaysia’. And guess what, the remarks was made on the April fool day and YB Lim called it as April fool joke. (Source: here)
  2. Next, he was quoted as saying that the Cabinet’s inter-faith panel was ‘small fry’ which received strong condemn especially from Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST). Though the MalaysiaKini and Malaysia Insider had apologized for mistakenly quoted YB Muhyiddin, the incident had leave a big impact to the public. (Source: here)
  3. You heard it now, Kamalanathan stand for Kamal, Alan and Nathan equals to 1 Malaysia.
Oh yeah.. on the achievements, perhaps we should be proud of the introduction of 1 Malaysia 1toilet and the abolishment of the English language in Science and Mathematics. For the 1 Malaysia 1 toilet, I strongly agree but not going to elaborate here. For the English in Science and Maths, thanks for your decision that made the newly textbooks to be withdrawn and abandoned away. With that, we WILL NEVER EVER ACHIEVE VISION 2020 because the Malaysian vision is basically confined to the local scope rather than eyeing to be among the best in the world. Malaysia Boleh and fellow Malaysian, dream on to achieve a developing country status. I know Tun Mahathir will be surely angry with the move, but no choice, he will just see how the country is lagging behind day by day,

On the other hand, the by election of Hulu Selangor showed how dirty politics are. Tun Mahathir was quoted as saying ‘all is fair in love and war and in election’ (Source: here). He enlightened that when he was in the helm of the top number 1 post, he was also victimized by claiming he had another wife in Singapore. What a retarded remarks! You people have nothing else to do than making allegations?

As for Hulu Selangor by election, personal attacks to the candidate namely Zaid Ibrahim was progressing to a new chapter. Initially, he was slammed for being a drinker and now he was labeled as a gambler. Zaid defended that owning a racing horse does not resemble gambling but it is a sport and even the Malay Ruler have their own racing horses. Anwar stressed that somebody in the UMNO owned San Miguel, Philippines- a beer manufacturing company (You may google for the specified person in the board of directors page). What I hate so much about politics is that people irrespective of who they are, their background and so on will use whatever way they can think of to attack another person for their political interests. This is what I called as uncivilized or third world mind set!

I am not mentioning on which parties but when party A throw an allegation, the normal ‘yin and yang’ theory will be that the affected party throwing the same allegation but with greater intensity. As what I can see from the recent situations, it is more like UMNO versus Zaid rather than Zaid versus Kamalanathan.

It may be politically good for Kamalanathan who was an alien to majority of voters except of course the MIC leaders. People may think why these two party making allegations towards each other are day by day. When UMNO leaders called Zaid as ‘kaki botol’, Zaid responded that ‘Which BN leaders that doesn’t drink or gamble?’. PAS came into defend by claiming all the previous PM except Pak Lah had did so, so what is the fuss now? Those voters who are fed up with these fighting may end up choosing Kamalanathan for being neutral in this case. Well, you can’t blame him. He is totally new and had no any significant achievements. Well, MIC has no right in choosing their candidate but to follow their master, UMNO.

The question arise is what is the main determining factors for the voters to cast their vote for any candidate? Their past or their achievements? If you are opting for achievements, glory goes to Zaid Ibrahim. He was the Minister in BN administration before and had done greater contributions to the nations. Well, just google his name and a long list will appear.

If you are judging on their personal background, may I call you an idiot! Who are you to judge a person? Everyone is not perfect in this world. Though Zaid admitted he was once a drinker but now return to the Islam teaching and ‘mengerjakan umrah di tanah suci Mekah’, what is the problem with you not accepting somebody who is determined to turn over a new leaf? Shame on you.

I would like give my greatest respect to YB Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and YB Lim Kit Siang for making orders to their respective party election machinery for not using the personal attacks in ‘fishing’ the votes. It is a morally good act. We have tainted past leaders from both different parties who still stand strong today such as Dr. Seri Chua Soi Lek and Elizabeth Wong. As for me, I won’t judge them based on their past but will judge them based on their achievements. Come on, dear fellow Malaysians. Change your mind set and be logical and rational. We need leaders to lead the country but we are not into the position at anytime and anyhow to interfere with the personal life. Don’t you agree?

Let’s wait and see the results in this coming Sunday. It seemed to be a 50-50 chance for both BN and PR. May the best win!

With that, I leave you with the thought on 1 Malaysia, personal past and dirty politics.

Dragon City Restaurant @ 新龍城廣西釀豆腐小菜館 - Official opening

A new restaurant had just opened in town at Sri Rampai Business Centre! Proudly announce to you, the Dragon City Restaurant aka 新龍城廣西釀豆腐小菜館.

8th of April was the official opening day of this restaurant. As can seen from the banner, it is originates from the Kampung Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.

So, lets have a brief introduction of the owners.

Alright, this girl is my sister. She is currently working as a course coordinator in a private university of which she will be expected to officially resigned from this current job by end of April. We have been talking on opening business for a long time but never expect that the opportunity arrived in a very short time. She loves cooking and baking very much. For baking, though most of the time it seemed not to be very ideal outcome, she continued to try and try until she achieved the satisfaction she desired. As for cooking, she loves to cook when she has free time at home usually at weekends or when my mum was too tired to cook after working. She loves to buy recipe books and try out the recommended recipe. The outcomes are good  and presentable. She will be in charged on all aspects of this restaurant except the kitchen.

This is Chef Tong who is my 'biu kor' or cousin. He has been working as chef for many years. Previously, he was the chef and co-owner of Restaurant Makanan Laut Loong Sing at Kampung Bukit Tinggi. Hence, the name of this new restaurant was derived from the previous restaurant name. He cooks varieties of food. You can find special menu in this restaurant which is not common in other restaurant in KL. If you ask him what are his signature food, he will tell you everything listed in the menu.

This temporary cashier is also my sister. She will be in charged of the restaurant during the day time before my elder sister (owner) take over at night after returning form her work. She is a freelance graphic designer. The restaurant's logo, menu book, name card, receipt book and all other designing job were done by her.

These were the congratulation flowers stand sent by afternoon. There were more by the night time and those who sent flower baskets were displayed at the inside of the restaurant.

When there is a new restaurant, there will be surely a dinner function inviting all friends, relatives, business affiliates and so on. As for here, the buffet dinner started at 6 pm and ended much earlier than expected because the number of people attending was way from expected.

The 'tau fu pok' aka beancurd and the fried 'fu chok' were the extra dishes prepared by the Chef. I was helping out to prepare the 'tau fu pok' early in the afternoon.

These buffet items were from catering service.

The foods were running out fast till the Chef resort to cook extra dishes such as pork ribs. The tables available were not enough to cater the number of crowds too but was still manageable. I must say that there seemed to be whole villagers from Kampung Bukit Tinggi who travelled down to KL to attend this function. Actually, Setapak and Gombak are the nearest town at the exit of Karak Highway and the distance measured by time is about 30-45 minutes on average speed of 90 km/hr.

I too invited my friends to attend the function. The group was smaller as another group went for a birthday celebration for my another friend.

The lovely couple, Siew Hoon and Kuan Poh with the increasingly naughty, Jun Jun!

One more!

Siew Hoon, Yen Moi and Chui Wei with Jun Jun~

I found out that both Jun Jun and Ah Mei have the same hair cut. LOLX.

Say PEACE!

Chie Chek

I was tortured by my own friends to serve them drinks.

Siew Hoon and Kuan Poh.

Me and Chie Chek

Yen Moi and Chui Wei

There was another group of friend from UTAR which happened to be Siew Hoon's friends. Among them, I only know Pei Chin who was located at most right of the picture.

These were the UCSI University friends of Kwong Fei which as written on the flower basket they brought on that day.

To all my dear friends, thanks for coming!

If you wonder why there was no pictures on the crowd, erm.. this was due to pai seh'ness. About 90% of the crowd was the familiar faces and thus I don't dare to take the pictures. Unbelievable right? Haha. For the restaurant's signboard picture, I took it at another day because there were familiar faces about 3 table of peoples sitting right in front of the signboard on that night.

With the official opening of this restaurant, it marked a significant changes to my whole family. My family who usually spent time at night watching Astro Wah Lai Toi now spent most of their time till late night at this restaurant. My dad was the one who helped out a lot in terms of buying  stuff, accommodation of the staff, technical parts of restaurant and so on.

As for myself, I was involved with some business talks with my sister prior to the opening of this restaurant. I couldn't read Mandarin so I was not in helping in writing the food orders. Instead, I was helping out in cleaning the tables, pouring the rice, preparing the drinks, cashier and etc. It was indeed a brand new experience. I have been seeing other people doing such job for years but never before I will imagine I am doing all these now.

As for the number of customers, it was unexpectedly GREAT! Though the advertising magazine is yet to be published, the number of customers are actually sustainably good. We really did not expect that. We are in the process in hiring additional staff and chef. The current kitchen was solely handled by my cousin alone with some supportive kitchen's staff.

If you stay nearby, do come and dine in here. Some come from far when they know the Chef from  Restoran Loong Sing has shifted here.  The environment here is sort of fusion between the Chinese and modern cafe. This was because the previous setting of this premise was actually a modern cafe and hence some of the items like tables and chairs as well as some decoration remained the same.

I will be writing on food review when I received the pictures from my sister. That's all for now~

Clinical Clerkship Attachment @ HKL

Finally, the 5 weeks of clerkship had come to an end. In this post, I will not be discussing about the clerkship attachment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur which is reserved for upcoming post. In contrast, I will discuss about my daily routine during this clerkship period.

We had clerkship attachment every Tuesday to Thursday of which we were required to clerk 2 cases in the ward. There were 5 different wards that we went namely Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Surgical, Pediatrics and Psychiatric.

Every morning from Tuesday to Thursday, we we required to arrive at the University compound by 6.30 am before boarding a bus to HKL. At about 7 am ++, we would arrive at the canteen located few meters away from HKL to have our breakfast and morning chat. After that, we would then proceed to various wards as mentioned above and be there by 8 am.

For each of the clerkship, there would be one Pharmacist to supervise us (preceptor) and also a specialist/consultant/ head of department physician. After briefing and so on, we were then required to go from bed to bed and choose a suitable case to clerk.

At about 12 pm ++, we were then required to present our case to the preceptor and discussed issues arising from the case. At 1 pm, we would then board the bus back to the University. If we were lucky enough, we would have some time to eat our lunch either at the canteen nearby the HKL (if preceptor allowed us to go early) or at Cheras. Otherwise, if we have unfinished job, we would have to proceed straight away to the PBL room before discussion with lecturer kicked in at 2 pm. The duration of the  discussion would be 1 hour and 30 minutes and may lengthen depending on the type of clerkship and availability of the respective lecturers.

The routine would be the same for all these 3 days. Apart from that, on every Thursday, we needed to present our case to our lecturer at University of which marks will be given to the presentation. If we were lucky enough to be able to clerk a case on Day 1, we may have additional time. Otherwise, if we were only  able to clerk a case on Day 2, we may require a longer time and some may even either no sleep or sleep at the wee hours of the morning eg 5 am before waking up at 6 am. Phew~

The good news is that everything is over but the bad news is that the finals will be around the corner.  We would have a tough time to digest so many things into our brain. Hope the Mighty God will bless us!~

Our favourite breakfast session spot would be either Restoran Pedas Pak Aji or Gerai Ah Kow. Usually, we will choose Restoran Pedas Pak Aji due to larger space to accomodate large numbers of us. We would order only drinks and not food because there wasn't any specialty of the foods offered here. (soory yea, pak cik) Gerai Ah Kow is the only Chinese stall here which offers the famous and highly picked 'Sesame Chicken' or 'chi ma kai'. The price is RM 4.50 per plate regardless of which part of the chicken you ordered. It is not just famous for the Chinese but a lot of Malays especially will choose to eat the sesame chicken which is HALAL.

The pak cik is quite friendly and like to joke with us in English and Malay. When I took my picture with Michael and Kuan Poh, he came and asked me to hold his 'nasi lemak' pack. When I was waiting for my money balance form him, he then asked me to take the picture with the money.

If you can see my picture clearly, I was infected with outbreak of pimples on my face till every one was concerned about me. Thanks friends, it was just another seasonal outbreak perhaps due to mounting stress weeks after weeks. Besides that, It may be due to lack of sufficient and quality sleep.

My favourite food in the early morning was nasi goreng + tambah nasi + tambah telur goreng  + sambal tiga sudu which costs RM 2.00. After consultation from Suk Yen, I then chose to order Teh O Ais every single morning.

We have Hooi Hoon, Wei Jie, Suk Yen and Boon Jin in this picture.

The happy faces when eating. Top from left: Shin Ying, Chie Chek, Siew Hoon and Yen Yie while bottom form left: You Know Who, Hooi Hoon, Suk Yen and Yueh Teng.

We have Kuan Poh, Me, Wei Jie, Yee San and Suk Yen in this photo.

The big familly.  Not in the photo were as usual Raj (taking the camera) and Wei Kiat, Chie Chek and Yong Chun who had an important business that day. =P

On this table, we have Wee Ling, Boon Jin, Yen Moi and Chui Wei having their breakfast.

The cutie Cindy with her packs of Sesame Chicken for other friends who did not manage to go back early from HKL. Usually, when we run out of time, we will ask our friend to 'tar pau' for us and ate in the bus. Pity us right?

Top right picture were Cindy and Shin Ying. Check out the symbol of their fingers. Cindy was the leader for Group 1 whereas Shin Yig  was the leader for group 5. Altogether, we have a total of 5 groups for 45 of us.

Cindy, Shin Ying, See Bee and Xiao You.. smile~

On another table, we have Pin Khee, Hui Chin and Lim Yin.

On another table as well, we have Melissa, Belinda, Sue Zin, Suk Yen and Jivan.

The perfect couple dating in the bus. They were Siew Hoon and Kuan Poh,

The behind geng who used to be a noise maker in the bus.Their leader was Chie Chek, don't underestimate his size with his volume.

This picture was taken in the bus while it was moving. I forgot on what their say with the significance of this picture with Dr, Yeong. The first name tag, Chin Suk Yen was known to be look alike, soudns alike but not the same with Dr. Yeong. (the Dean of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UCSI University)

These were the name tag from my group. We were given this name tag each of which we will required to wear it at all the times except in the Psychiatric ward,

The complete name tag of my Group 2 led by Lam Wee Ling.

Wee Ling and Yen Yie.. no comments ~

First and last photo with our own tag before given back to the HKL authority.

Our neighbour, Group 5

We had learn a lot of new things throughout the clerkship. Those experience are related to real clinical practice settings which mostly totally different from the books. It was a great exposure to all of us before joining the work force soon.

Thanks to all my dear friends who make my life merrier and happier.

My Favourite Sport : Taekwondo

Talking on sport, I wasn’t active in that field. During the primary school, I was involved in football and my position was either the goalkeeper or the defender. The greatest achievement ever was winning a silver/ bronze medal in 4 x 100 m.

I chose Taekwondo as my favourtie sport. How about you?

Moving to secondary school, it is virtually hard to join any sports because there were a lot of elite sport player in my school. My school, Setapak High was famous for athletics and hockey. These were the prohibited clubs because you will be ‘tortured’ if you are beginners and plus ‘different skin colour’. Well, you get what I meant of which usually occurred in national schools.

Talking about myself, I joined Taekwondo Club since form 1 if not mistaken. I remembered my instructor name was something sound like ‘sam sung’ but was unsure the exact spelling. The name of the taekwondo association was Global Taekwondo Federation or GTF.

The good thing about joining Taekwondo is a healthier you and your body. We had a training session every Saturday from about 9 am to 11 am. Usually, the training started with a traditional bow top the instructor. Then, it was followed by a warm up session. Initially, we had to run through pillars to pillars of the school building. After that, senior members will move in front and guide the rests on simple warming up technique such a rotating your heads, hips, hands, leg and everything. The seniority is based on colour of your belts. For GTF, there are 6 colour of belts namely white, yellow, green, blue, red and black (in increasing order of level).

After warming up, members were taught on the basic techniques in Taekwondo such as standing and sitting position, punching, side kick, back kick and others. It is good to know such techniques such as to punch correctly to minimize injury to yourself.

One of the most difficult stunt is jumping kick. If you do not aim well, you might be attacked once you landed down. It needs a good balance of your body as well as the power of projection.

Moving on was the learning on the grading pattern. As one move from the lowest belt which is white to another level, there is a grading pattern that one must be mastered and tested before you can advance further up. Grading means examination whereas pattern means a series of movements combining all important steps of Taekwondo.

And finally, the class usually ended with a sparring session. Sparring means like fighting between two opponents. During this session, you can do ‘free style’ or whatever techniques you wish to or invented by yourself so long as you did not do anything targeting to the face or the private parts as they are ‘FRAGILE’. I personally love this session though a bit scare because you will never know injury awaiting you. Even a simple sparring can possess risk of injury because accidents occur anytime and anywhere. Most of the time, when it comes near to exam, I will avoid myself involved in sparring because if my hands are injured, who are going to write for my exams? Haha. I personally do experienced slight injuries be it bruises on my hands, legs or even bleeding on the gum of my teeth.

Though it looks like a simple front kick, you must be well trained before you able to raise up your legs and project towards the face of your opponents. If you able to do so, you will get 3 scores.

Due to some circumstances, the Taekwondo association in my school has changed to MITF which stand for Malaysia Taekwondo International Federation. If not mistaken we were being told that GTF no longer exist in our country. Then, after a short period of time, the club changed again to the WTF which stand for World Taekwondo Federation. This time we were being told that MITF only will be practised by the army forces and not the general public. It was indeed a nice experience with my Taekwondo Club.

The umpire in a competition wears a fully yellow coloured attire.

That’s all for now. If you want to stay healthy, consider Taekwondo as a sport. Not only that, it can help to build up muscle and make yourself discipline.

*This is one of the entries filed under Project Alpha Season 2 which is presented by Adidas Action 3 and supported by P1 and MAS.
