Seemed happy but we had 3 days run of fatigueness. People was flocking in non stop from the time the registration started till it ended. The climax was the third day of which I had my lunch (the last one) only at about 4.30 pm. I was stationed in a multi purpose counter called Info Counter. I was in charged in doing registration for pre-registered as well as walk in visitors, those who had forgot their code numbers, students and medias. Besides, I had to issue receipt for those who wanted to purchase the Show Directory Book at the cost of RM 10.

Smile everyone
The event was very successful as it hit the target visitors of more than 20000 in just 3 days. With the huge number, it was somehow unavoidable to receive complain on long queue and some networking errors.

Cheers~
All these pictures were taken during the last day of the event. I did not managed to visit the exhibition as there was too many crowds at the registration counter. However, I managed to sneak around during the briefing day of which concurrent with the setting up day.

We went to celebrate the last day of working at Subway. I had never dine in before and glad to have the very first at Avenue K.

A very healthy meal indeed. We ordered the Special Choice of the day (different days different choice) of which cost cheaper. The sandwich of the day + a drink cost less than RM 11 including of tax.

Pulau Redang, 26-29 May 2009

Monday, June 8, 2009

A day after the successful Oath Taking cum Pharmacy Night 2009, a bunch of us went to Redang Island for vacation together with another bunch of Y1 juniors. We took Air Asia flight from KL to Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu.

I never knew that we need to walk to the plane through the outdoor pathway. This was my first time taking flight by Air Asia.

Then, Chui Wei's father drove a van to fetch 13 of us. (total 14 in the car) It was so funny that when someone (forgot who) asked to shout out numbers to check every1 was on the board, her father joined in to this kiddy 'game'. We stayed at Chui Wei's house for a night. We were served with the famous nasi dagang and kerepok lekor which were so 'yummy'.

In the next morning, we went to the tour agency office, had our breakfast before boarding a bus to the jetty located at Kuala Merang.

The journey took about 45 minutes from KT.

Masjid Kristal Kuala Terengganu
We passed by this controversy mosque. FYI, sources claimed that the construction of this mosque was a waste of the taxpayer money. When I looked into the surrounding area, it seemed quite true as it is located within the kampung area. People claimed that it is more for tourism purpose than the prayer of which very less number of people perform the latter. When BN took back the government in Terengganu, all the money namely for the royalty of the oil which wasn't channelled to the previous state government was used to build up mega projects of which including the recently collapsed Sultan Mizan Stadium aged less than 1 year old.

DAY 1

Redang Island
First time been here. It is true.

Tomas and his gf
Taken while waiting the time for lunch

My first time experience

Coincidently, we met with another bunch of friends who were here a day earlier than us. So, we took the golden oppurtunity to take photo with them.

After that, we had our lunch. Then, we cruise out from the land to somewhere over the sea for snorkelling. My first time experience as well and it was a great one. Saw many living creatures under the sea. It was hard to imagine the presence of such pretty landscape under the sea compared to the dirty yellowish river we usually see in KL.

After the snorkelling trip, it was the tea break time. Then, we proceed to the next activity which was BEACH VOLLEYBALL. The last time I played volleyball was perhaps during session organised by PK 2-3 years back. However, for this time, we were playing volleyball at different venue of which we won't feel pain should we fell down. Picture showing the guys 'setting' the ball while the girls in attempt to 'bounce' back.

Some facial expression. The centre pictures were the group pictures taken when I went to take back the ball thrown far from the court. Alright, it was my fault to hit the ball to hard.

MF joined us later on after some session of photographing. Thnaks so much to capture this sweet and sweat moment.

Mei Yin did not joined us for the game while some rested in the resort after 2 hours snorkelling session earlier. FYI, the volleyball costs RM 50. Don't worry. It was just the deposit money of which full return will be given when you return the ball.

Some of the picture taking session

You can see many ferries not far from the beach only at two times, one early in the morning and one in the evening when no more boats/ferries will be operating. After the volleyball session, it was our dinner time. We then took rest in the room before we were called to meet up for a wine drinkign session.

However, it turned to be a surprise birthday celebration for 5 babies including me, alvin, yen moi, chui wei and wei ling. Thnaks so much to all of them~ We were greeted with the cake and the birthday song singing at the Summer Point Bar.

Group photos

We then moved out from the place after knowing that own wine drinking will be charged RM 40. What kind of charges was that? At this secluded area but with ample space, it is indeed a good substitue. We can still her the live singing session from the bar and at the same time enjoyed our time here.

Group photos
After that, part of the group stayed to enjoy to the music while me and others went to tour around to Laguna and its surrounding to check out some chick... oops..to walk around only. Then, we gathered back at the same place and stayed till about 1 am to listen to the live music before going back

DAY 2

We started off the day with as usual a breakfast but it was an early as 7 am. Then, we headed to the Marine Park for the second snorkelling session. Here, I managed to spot 2 giant fish one on the north and one on the south of the place. So, you can imagine how far I snorkelled around that area. There were plenty of colourful and different varities of fish here compared to the spot yesterday. I actually met a friend here but I wasn't really confirmed at that time plus he was not wearing his specs that he can't recognise me too. I also managed to touch the star fish if not mistaken taken by one of the divers from deep on the bottom of the sea and managed to show to chui wei, boon jin and yen moi.

As usual, when reached back to the land, it was time for lunch. There was another snorkelling session purportedly to be the Turtle Bay at 2.30 pm. However, due to that many were not interested to join, we took the time allocated to rest in the resort. I heard that the plan to Turtle Bay was cancelled due to strong wave.

After the resting time, me and Tomas with his gf went for a canoeing/kayaking session. I never played this before and would like to try since the charges was only RM 1o per hour. After few minutes on the canoe, I seriously felt that I was expert and ready to go for a competition. It was easy to manoeuvre if there was only one person. For two persons, both need some time to communicate and learn to move together. good job to tomas and mei yin. We even race among us, looking to the beautiful landscape on the canoe, avoiding the divers under the sea who were spotted everywhere and joking around on the canoe. Too bad that Mei Yin did not allowed us to go further away as the waves were strong.

The girls on the other hand went for photographing session.

See how enjoyable they were jumping up in the sky.

The Y1 had a swimming session

Again, after our dinner, we checked some of our photos captured during snorkeling session. Each of the photo costs RM 5. The pic was taken at the shop with the beach boys.

Then, about 10 pm, we had another drinking session. We ordered a dozen Heineken which costs rm 108. After some dealing season with the boss, they agreed to exclude the wine charges only for us. We actually bought two bottle of wines. We chatted, laughed, drank beer & wine and dance till late night about 12 pm ++.

Day 3

Group photo

At the jetty

sweeties,,
Me, alvin, tomas & mei yin already on the ferry when this pic was taken.

Taken in the double decker bus.
This was the first time boarding on a double decker bus for most of us and it turned to be a bad experience. The air cond of the bus was functioning leaving us sweating for about 1-2 hours journey. We hardly took a nap as it was very dry and hot. MF then tried to identified the problem and asked the driver to adjust the fan from medium to high, Then, eventually the bus become so cold added with the raining that freeze us.

A special video clip prepared by MF. Thanks to him as well for the photos posted here. All photos were taken by him

Finally, I made my first step on the Redang Island and Terengganue. So, what's next? My upper arm on both side had sunburn that become so red especially after bath. Getting dark was not an issue for me as I actually intended to do so.

SMIDEC 2009, KLCC Convention Centre

Saturday, June 6, 2009

OMG! Another shocking event. Peggy called me at about 11.45 pm on Wednesday and asked me to work for the coming next 2 days. At that point of time, I become nervous and was walking here and there thinking for a solution. Why? It was because my stuffs were not in Setapak as I never thought of working so sudden. I was designated to work for next week event so there was still ample time for me to get my stuffs back in Cheras. So, what were the solution??

Formal shoes-borrowed from Ah chung
Formal white shirt- borrowed from Chee Boon
Jacket- borrowed from Uncle Wong's treasure

I went to get the shirt by 1 am + from chee boon and had few hours of chatting with him. The pictures above were taken few hours later in the morning about 7 am of which I set up my tripod to take so called profile pictures. This is because a close up pic is needed in resume and I didn't find any suitable picture in my collection. Mum was nagging me for delaying the time (took about 20 minutes shooting session) caused she worried I will be late for my first day of work.

hmm.. how come both pic are similar...

So, what was my job?

D1 - Purely 'back' desk typist. As I mentioned in previous post that my typing is 'EXPERT' level (something wrong with the software), she needed me to type the particular of the visitors of the event. There was 5 typists including me and 4 front desk typists. It was so tiring and exhausted as the number of visitors was a huge sum. We were given a laptop to key in the data and external keyboard. When I reached home, I had my earliest sleeping time by 11 pm throughout my sem break up to now.

D2- Multipurpose job. Due to some circumstances, there was no longer 'back' desk typist. There was 5 front desk typists. So, some of us helped in distributing the paper bags and assisting the front desk typists while some became the usher. The job wasn't easy as the crowd came continuously leaving not rest time. Yesterday was eye sore but today was was back pain as I needed to bow down to take the paper bags. My jobs included temporary front desk typists, paper bag distributor, inserting directories into the goodies bag, DBKL aka floor cleaner and etc.

This was the registration counter where I worked. The counter was closed at 5.30 pm. The event run from 3-5 June 2009. I was called in to substitute a person for Day 2 and day 3.

Some of the part time colleagues while some had left earlier.

Look to the direction which the finger was pointing. It was Peggy's bare naked legs.
(it wasn't my hand)

The team comprising the typists, assistant and ushers together with the event coordinator, Ms. Peggy. FYI, I don't even have the name tag with lanyard as I was new among them. Not even attending the briefing or training.

Guess who was beside me? She was actually ready to take the photo but out of sudden laughed till cannot tahan and turned behind.

Ms Peggy, my boss
Initial CSI investigation revealed that she might be very young even YOUNGER than me. OMG..what a fact~

Have you been electrified by her?

The guys

This was 'header' (dunno how to spell her name) in lazy mode. She insisted not to take her photo so I only took 'back' side photo.

Me and Janice
She reported on the same day as me. However, she is the new permanent staff. She is suspected to be even younger than Ms. Peggy as she just completed her diploma. This company is full of young ppl 'underage' of 30.

So, what's SMIDEC all about? Don't ask me. We were too busy to enter into the exhibition hall although some had managed to do so. I heard there was food testing. Oh..FOOD.

This is my update on my 2D working experience with a bunch of new people and surprisingly I found out that many are younger than me. (how can that be?) This event was considered 'small' and the upcoming next week event will be a bigger one with more registration booth. Nice experience!!

I am employed for 3 days

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

My day started with an overslept. I set my alarm to 9.30 am but end up woke up 2 hours later after series of snooze of my hp. After I woke up, I had a dry mee for my breakfast. Today was a bit special day as my mum cooked the ‘sweet potatoes dessert’. So, it was a little big meal for the breakfast.

Then, my dad was seen painting the main gate outside. Huh..why out of sudden do painting? I did not offer help due to the sunny day. Well, my skin is not recovered yet from the sunburn and my skin is still peelable now. (bad son.. huh?) I can tear off a layer of skin, transparent and thin layer. Upon rub, it will be peelable easily.

As usual, I check news update and reading blogs. Today, I already planned to put aside blogging on Redang Trip but to look for part time jobs. As for this time, I wanted to have a new experience or exposure. If given the choice, I do not want to stay in the office and to face the computer almost all the time and worsening my eyesight. (duh.. my eyesight is deteriorating) So, I started my searching for few hours. It was quite interesting to see that there are many part time jobs offered and I just get to know that there are many websites that you can search for but definitely not Jobstreet.

After some time, I finally found one job which is quite high pay. RM 100 + incentives per day for cosmo fair for 4 days. Sounds attractive? So, I sent my resume (after some time digging the files) and received error in sending mails (rebound). I sent to the company twice but yet still received rebound mails. So, I do a bit searching of the ‘cosmo fair’ through google search but still no information. Cosmo gives impression of cosplay, don’t you think so? Towards the end, I found out that it was actually a beauty fair by Cosmo Beautician. The moment I knew I felt so glad that luckily my resume was not able to send out. Asking me to sell beauty products like cosmetics is a definitely no no.

Next, I found one event work around 2 pm+. Looks good and the pay was sort of normal price. It was written data entry/assistant/usherer. The event management company is located in my living area. I sent out my resume and get a reply within 10 minutes. So fast? The person in charge was requesting me to send my resume in 2003 format. Haha.

So, I continue chatting in msn and searching as well. About 2.45 pm, I received a call and it was from the event company. What a shock! The person in charge was Ms. Peggy and she asked me to go interview NOW. What? She also asked if I got friends who wanted to work. So, I told her some in Cheras and some it was too sudden to inform. So, I asked her if I needed to wear formal wear. She replied no need, but a casual wear with no short pants. (huh..how she know I like to wear short pants?)

It was just too sudden. I kept asking myself was I dreaming? Since I promised to meet her by 3.30 pm, I hurried to my room and get my ‘casual wear’ and bath. Then, I headed toward the place in just less than 10 minutes. (haha.. very near only).

Then, when I reached there, I saw no ‘papan tanda’ for the company. (Is this company legal?). After meeting her, she then started to interview me. She did not ask me my previous experience probably already written in my resume. She gave me a speaking test followed by a typing test. (huh.. what is this all? I wasn’t ready at all) I did not feel nervous from beginning till I reached there, but only when I read out a paragraph of a given text, I felt a little as I do not know what she wants/expected from me. (I’m still in the state of shock).

Next, she gave me a typing test. (huh.. typing? What a joke?) The jobs offered are 3 types which are data entry, assistant and usherer. I wanted usherer as I mentioned above I don’t want to face the monitor 24 hours. Besides, many know my typing though it was fast but full of mistakes and it was proven today. Things were too sudden that I was laughing while doing the typing test. Besides, she also talked to me and somehow no fully concentrate on the typing. The result was EXPERT with 92% accuracy and 40 words per minute. I was like what? EXPERT? The software got problem? So, I asked her my result must be very bad and no choice to opt for ushers. She gave me a shock reply that most of her staffs scored below 40 ranging about 30 with one managed to score 60 words per minute and few above my score. What a joke?

She then offered me a job as ‘Architect’. What? Architect? This must be kidding. Then, only she continued that it was an architect forum which will be held in July. Relief. I told her that I may not be able to answer now as I probably will go for a vacation and my big day is somewhere during the even period (Just get to know J will be attending to this event and asked me to take it).

She said ok and then offered me a job as a typist. Har.. typist.. cannot be usher meh? She told me that typist job is fun and can know a lot of pretty girls. Well, you think I am a small kid? How to be fun to face the monitor 24 hours and know pretty girls through typing? So, I asked her if the participants were all pretty charming ladies? She replied NO but instead will give me two pretty girls placed one on my left and another one on my right. It will be typing job but it is an on site job doing registration for the participants. CEH~ So, no choice lor, since the boss wanted me to do typist, I have to take it.

This job is only for 3 days. Though it is small money, I think this will be very interesting as I can get new exposure. So, after that, our talks went into out of the topic discussion. Some of it was marriage of different races, Indian cannot eat beef or beat snake, Malay cannot eat pork and mix marriage can produce pretty/handsome children. (so, you know what we were talking right?) So, I asked her if she need more staffs? She gave me a shock reply that the company wanted to reduce the number of staffs. (uh.. so contra with initial words)

This time I scored my very first.
First time to get a job offer in such fast speed.
First time go interview no need bring resume or anything.
First time get an on site job.

In addition, Tun Mahathir will be attending that function as well. Oh… my idol. She asked me to change a new idol as he was old. Then, I told her that he is a man with good vision. She agreed that he was the best among the 5 PM including the current one. Tun will probably enter through VIP hall. Can I request to ask him register with me? Haha.. Do VIPs need to register? Again, conversation went ‘wild’.

That’s all for now. Hope it will be an enjoyable work! So, ppl, if you have any event work other than this coming 10-12 June, do let me know. Thanks in advance.
